First off, I wanted to say huge morals to everyone on this list. The popularity of this list has now outgrown the capacity for our previous newsletter distribution service. Over the past month I have been testing new ways for the distribution list to be integrated into our website, http://www.beta-nu.net. I'm happy to say that I think I have come up with a solution that will be able to take alot of weight off of Pete Sower's hands (who is expecting twins, congrats Brother Sower) and will make the ever growing list more flexible and scalable.

Some new features of the distribution list:

  • Subscribe/Unsubscribe
    • If you go to Beta-Nu.Net you will see a new section under the navigation that says "Beta-Nu Newsletter". If you know a brother that would like to be added to the list, or if you change jobs or email addresses, you can easily subscribe to the list by entering your information and clicking"Subscribe"
  • Personalized Subscription
    • At the very top you should see "Brother *YOUR NAME HERE*,". If your name doesn't appear there, please go to beta-nu.net and re-enter your subscription information. This will also help the Alumni committee for updating our larger Beta-Nu database of Names and Home Addresses.
  • HTML Newsletters
    •  You can see that emails now have images and more added to them for a better look. If you cannot accept HTML emails, please reply back to this message and I will make sure you get text only.
  • Emails now come from alumni [@] beta-nu [dot] net
    • All distributions and newsletter will now be coming from alumni [@] beta-nu [dot] net. Please make sure your spam filters are adjusted accordingly to allow emails from this address
  • Central repository of Newsletters
    • By integrating the distribution list with the website, we have streamlined our processes by being able to create website articles and newsletters in one step without lots of confusion.

If you have any problems, please reply back to this email and I will try to handle accordingly.

Pete and I have discussed about expanding the alumni section of the website to include things such as:
  • Notable Beta-Nu Brothers
  • Active/Retired Military Brothers

Each person in these categories would give us a short Bio of themselves, why they chose to rush Kappa Sigma, how Kappa Sigma has influenced their lives, their favorite memory from Kappa Sigma, and what they are currently doing. I'm open to any suggestions for the website, so please feel free to chime in.
