Dear Brothers,

The University of Kentucky’s Homecoming event on Halloween marked the first official social function for the Beta Nu of Kappa Sigma Alumni Association. Despite the less than favorable weather and a scheduling conflict for fathers of trick or treaters, the turnout was outstanding as alums and actives came together to celebrate fellowship, football and the future of Beta Nu. Alums from every decade from the 1950’s to the most recent graduates exchanged stories with the actives (some of them were actually true), shared food and drink, and cheered on the Wildcats. Unfortunately, UK did not hold up their end of the bargain. Nonetheless, the event was a success and plans are already in the works for a better event next year with a bigger tent, a closer location and more alum and active participation. Thank you to everyone who attended, in particular Andy “Kramer” Hess for supplying the food and Jeremy Nalli for coordinating the day’s festivities.

Everyone involved agreed that more social events like Homecoming-more tailgates, golf outings, regional get-togethers-are needed to reconnect with other alums and the active chapter. With this in mind, please remember to make an effort to attend Founder’s Day this year on April 17th. It is our hope that this year’s Founder’s Day will be the best attended in the history of our chapter.

For active members of the alumni association, you will be receiving membership cards in the near future.   In addition, we will continue to have meetings in regional locations and in Lexington throughout the fall and winter leading up to Founder’s Day. Since this group is still evolving, we will continue to use these meetings to discuss the future of both the active chapter and the roles and responsibilities of the alumni association. For alumni who would still like to join the alumni organization, a membership form is attached. Your assistance and support is invaluable as we continue to help shape the future of Beta Nu.
